The species of flora that thrive on Kythira can withstand the dry summer and mild winter and the low altitude of the island. Kythira includes approximately 800 species of flora, where we mention a few of them. <br\/>\r\nMainly <b>semi-shrubs<\/b> are found such as poterium spinosum, genista acantoclada, euphorbia, salvia, phlomis fruticosa, Olea oleaster, pistacia lentiscus ), heather (Calycotome villosa) heather (Erica), thyme (thymus Capitatus), myrtle (myrtus communis), honeysuckle (lonicera etrusca). <br\/>\r\nThe <b>trees<\/b> that are usually found on the island are: cedar (juniperus phoenicea), carob (Ceratonia siliqua), sycamore (Platanus orientalis), cypress (Cupressus sempervirens), olive (Olea europaea), almond (Prunus dulcis) ), fig (Ficus carica). In the last century, new species such as pines, eucalyptus, poplars and others were planted in Kythira. <br\/>\r\nIn Kythira, there are also many endemic plants, mainly herbs. The <b>herbs<\/b> are considered very important for their healing properties and are included even today in the eating habits of the locals.
